AKA Wraiths of Roanoke

In this tale based on the lost North Carolina colony of Roanoke Island the colonists are attacked by three wraiths. The acting governor tries to understand what is happening while the people are being killed off. Finally piecing together half remembered Norse legends and local Native American tales he realizes these are the spirits of 3 viking witches, trapped on the island with the colonists. Can they find a way to end the siege and survive the winter when even the forest is controlled by the wraiths?

This film wasn’t bad other than the special effects, the acting was o.k. and the Indians looked cool more like aborigines than native Americans. The wraiths of the viking witches where almost cool except that creepy green light that surrounded them it reminded me of the special effects in the 80’s classic Walt Disney film Mr. Boogedy. Adrian Paul played an Englishman who just so happen spoke and read the Norse language of the vikings. That was funny because he also knew the myth of the viking witches.

The story evolves around one of America’s oldest unsolved mysteries, The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island where the first American child was born. You can read more about the true story here Roanoke Colony. The film puts a more malevolent twist to the truth but is backed by true events. The problem with it is you have a story like this and very low budget, it should of been a lot better, they had the right idea they just failed to execute it.
