Official Bar Score:

Black Stone Cherry is a southern rock band based out of Kentucky. Their country roots really show but you can hear the Led Zepplin & Lynard Skynard influence in their music even though they are often compared to Soundgarden and AC/DC. I really dig the hard southern sound they have it almost reminds me of a coked up Black Crowes, and their aint nothing wrong with that. I have only heard one other album from the band, their 2006 self titled release and I loved that so I decided to give this disc a spin. I was not disappointed at all.

“Blind Man” is a really good song and it reminded me a lot of the first album, it was followed up by the ballad “Please Come In” thats pretty good as well. I really dig the fourth track “SoulCreek” it is a bad ass song that has a nice arena rock feel to it but I think “Long Sleeves” takes it for me. The album is kinda of up and down with its tempo, every other song is a ballad but it never slows down too much. I like that with a band like this. “The Key” is a fucking great song as well and “You” is beautiful.

This is a good album and if you like the style of music they play than you can’t help but love it . I liked the album a lot but most of the songs sounded a lot like other songs, I can’t put my finger on what songs but some of them reminded me of other artist if that makes any since at all. It was damn close to a solid 4 but I think 3.5 is a fair score. Monkey you should check it out you will dig it as well.
