Concert Review: Poison-Live, Raw & Uncut Tour (2008)

Official Bar Score:

So Lundie treated us to the Poison show at Nissan pavilion last night, we got really hammered on the way up there and didn’t stop until the music did. As soon as we exited the vehicle Lundie was swaying and staggering all over the place, I knew then it was going to be on.
Let me begin saying that I am not a huge Poison fan, I like a ton of their songs but I am very satisfied with a greatest hits album. I like Sebastian Bach and the old Skid Row stuff and I couldn’t name a Dokken song other than Dream Warriors. I didn’t ever think I would be seeing any of these bands live. Going into this show I was expecting to have a good time but still be surrounded by big hair, sagging titties and geriatrics. I expected the place to reek of hair-spray and ben-gay, boy was I wrong. I had a great time and it was one of the better shows that I have seen and I’m no rookie to the concert scene.
Sebastian Bach opened the show, with a cover of Aerosmith’s “Back in the Saddle” off his latest Angel Down album, then played the Skid Row hits and a few of his solo songs. He sounded great and hit every note like it was 1987 again, but it was day performance and didn’t have the same feel to it as a night time gig. But this allowed plenty of time to drink heavily.
Dokken came on next, and I never realized this before but Don Dokken is a bit of a tool, they sounded really good live even though I didn’t know many of their songs though. I was really disappointed when they didn’t play “Dream Warriors” but still enjoyed hearing them and seeing them live. I made a few more beer runs during their set and really got geared up for the head-liners.
Poison Opened the show with “Look what The Cat Dragged In” which is my favorite song of theirs and I couldn’t believe how good they sounded live. They performed all of their hits, and a few cover songs off the Poison’d album, Bret Michaels talked a lot of shit and kept us all entertained between songs, and CeCe cranked out some awesome guitar solo’s followed by a drum solo by Ricki Rocket that was great. They jammed out “Your Momma Don’t Dance” and “Un-skinny Bop”, and I was really impressed with the live sound. After the set, Dokken, Sebastian Bach and the rest of the back stage crew joined them on stage for an encore of “Nothin’ But a Good Time” that was off the chain.
I have a new found respect for all of these bands and can’t wait to see them live again, this was one of the best times I’ve had at a show.
