Game Review: Iron Man PS2

Developer: Sega

Platform: PlayStation2

ESRB Rating: Teen

Official Bar Score:

Loosely based on the number 1 movie in the U.S. comes Iron Man PS2 a story of billionaire weapon developer Tony Stark, who invents an indestructible suit of armor capable of carrying many missiles. The game is very different from the movie in a lot of ways, it has the basic plot of the film, but it adds many more bad guys and level boss’s. Iron Man’s goal is still destroying all the weapons that Stark enterprises developed that are in the hands of evil doers. The characters are the same, but they put him in different scenarios.

But the story is not that important any way, the game play was like any other basic third person video game the two joysticks controlled the movement and the direction you look and aim, and the R!, R2, L1, L2 controls flight and weapons. Not too bad once you get used to it but rather tricky at first. The good thing is that the game wasn’t very hard to beat considering it took an army to kill you and if you did die you could manually reboot your heart by hitting a series of buttons. The levels are all very similar and bland basically you fly around following a map beacon that tells you where you need to go and keeps you from getting lost. Other than that you can wage war on an onslaught of bad guys. You can also choose to fight on the ground or fly at any moment in the game.

Unlike Iron Man on the 360 or the PS3, you don’t have to buy extra suit or weapons you unlock them by using them, thats a plus. This game isn’t great by any means and its definitely not very challenging, it is fun though. Iron Man is a bad ass, with many guns to choose from and a whole lot of bad guys to kill, if your looking for a great story with awesome graphics this game isn’t for you, but if your looking for shooting the hell out of terrorist and tanks than I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
