Dexter : Season 1

Led by an amazing performance by Emmy nominated actor Michael C. Hall, Dexter is one of the most critically acclaimed, must see television shows of the year! Like no other crime drama you’ve seen before, this horrifying and intoxicating DVD includes all 12 riveting Season One episodes and a host of delightfully twisted special features.

I have never seen a show on TV this bloody, and addictive. Once you begin watching Dexter you can’t stop, it’s that damn good. As each episode comes and goes you grow to love the man that he is and the work that he does. By the time one episode is over I’m pumped up to see the next. It’s the TV version of Saw to me, not as gory or as intense. But it could be the best series going on right now.

Disc. 1

Disc 1 has the first four episodes that basically just introduce all the main characters and their roles. You really get to know Dexter and even see glimpses of his childhood and his twisted yet caring relationship with his foster father Harry. Dexter and his sister Deb are raised in a police family and grow up to work in law enforcement. Deb is a Homicide detective and Dex is a blood spatter investigator with a very disturbing secret. . By day he lives a normal life with his girlfriend Rita and her two kids. He goes to work at the station catching the bad guys but at night he stalks and kills murders and serial killers. Tension rises and egos begin to clash when Miami is turned upside down by a serial killer who drains the blood and chops up hookers.

Disc 2

It’s becoming a twisted game of cat and mouse between Dexter and the Ice Truck Killer. He’s challenging Dexter, he knows his secret and want to play a game of catch me if you can with him. Dexter is becoming obsessed with finding the real identity of his adversary, he almost respects the man. More bodies turn up, suspects come and go, and just when they think they have the bad guy the story takes another twist, and their suspect turns up missing a few limbs. Miami’s finest aren’t sure what their dealing with, or how long the killings will last but they seem to be getting close when Deb adds a new style to being a homicide detective. Dexter is perplexed by not being able to find this guy and you can tell the pressure he’s under by the more distance he puts between him and Rita, and the little mistakes he makes at his night gig, killing.

Disc 3

Now that the viewer knows who the Ice truck killer is and how personal and close he has become with Dexter. You can’t wait to see the conclusion, it becomes even more interesting as he mingles with Dexter and Deb with out them having a clue to his true intentions. The three episodes on this disc leave you very excited to see the final showdown between Dexter and the ice truck killer. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat begging for a conclusion. The last episode on this disc, is very very intense and gives a perfect set up for the season finale.

Disc 4

Disc 4 contains the last episode of the series, which is one of the best season finales I’ve seen in a long while. Dexter learns a lot about his past and himself, and this only leaves me wanting more. I can’t wait for season 2 to hit DVD. This show is like crack one episode will get you addicted, and if you don’t get to watch it you feel the withdrawals. Do yourself a favor and watch this show.

My conclusion is simple, this is a great show. I didn’t think I was going to enjoy as much as I did, it had everything it needed to keep my attention, Blood, Nudity, Suspense and a very sick way of making me root for the killer.
