Next Edition of Guitar Hero Announced
Last summer aspiring rock stars received Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s to tide them over until GHIII was out. Today Activision announced the next evolution in its rock-simulation franchise — Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. Focusing on the music of the iconic American band, players will pick up the picks of Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar) and Tom Hamilton (bass). We’ll also get a chance to play songs that influenced the band. The game will take heroes through Aerosmith’s career, from their first gig to writing cheesy ballads for blockbuster movies (we kid).
“We’ve put a lot of ideas into the game so that fans can have fun interacting with our music, getting inside our body of work and learning about the band’s history,” says Perry. “On a larger scale, it’s cool for us to be pioneers helping to rebuild the music industry through a format like video games. It’s great for rock since the record companies are struggling to make sense of how things are changing. Fans want to get and experience music in new formats — and there are going to be some of them who will play the game, then pick up the guitar for real and start bands. It’s what’s happening now, and it’s only going to build more momentum in the future. It’s a massive change for the music business.”
Personally I think this is a big mistake as one of the better aspects of guitar hero is the variance in songs and artists so focusing on one single band will come off as a bit of overkill.

This is going to be gay as fuck. Let me just be the one to say it, because everyone else will be too pussy to admit it:
Aerosmith fucking sucks.
Thank you.
Rock Band sucks, and I am officially off the Guitar Hero bandwagon after this bullshit. Why not Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Zakk Wylde… you know… LEGENDARY FUCKING GUITAR PLAYERS!
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rock band doesn’t suck, it just could’ve had a way better song list.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say Aerosmith sucks but they also haven’t made a song worth two shits in well over a decade. Guess that’s what happens when you stop writing your own songs
