The Wire - Final Season - Episode 5

Official Bar Score:

NOTE: Stealing the synopsis from the Yahoo! TV page is much easier than writing a synopsis, so barring them leaving something out I wanted to touch on, that is where they will be coming from.

Marlo forges an alliance with a drug connection, who shows him a new communications trick. McNulty’s case gets increased attention from the newspaper, mostly due to Templeton. Dukie turns to Cutty and Michael to hone his self-defense skills. Meanwhile, Clay Davis finds a new ally; Bond raises his public profile; Levy and Herc prepare for litigation; Elena confronts McNulty about his behavior; Bubbles fears new opportunities; Greggs gets some overtime work and Omar shows patience as Marlo throws out his bait.

Good if not unspectacular episode this week, that is until Omar makes his move on Marlo. What commences is yet another classic shootout involving Omar, who proves that he has more heart than anybody in history. He also proves that he can fly (must be seen to be understood, it’s well worth it though.) The other big highlight (for me anyway) was McNulty finding out that Templeton is fabricating stuff for his stories and exploiting him. I have come to despise the Templeton character, so to see him start getting some of his due id kind of refreshing.

Until next week…
