This is the best Hammer Horror film I have ever seen, and don’t get it twisted I have been a fan of Hammer Horror since I was a child. I’ve seen tons of these films. Duc de Richleau decides to have a get together, and he invites a couple of his long time buddies,Rex Van Ryn & Simon Aron. Rex arrives on time, but hours go by with no word from Simon. They begin to worry, so they checked with is family only to discover that months have passed since they have last seen him too. At this point they just knew that something was terribly wrong.

After hearing word, that Simon had moved into a big house not so far away. The two good friends decide to pay him a visit to see if all is well. After arriving at his house, it seems that Simon is having a get together of his own. He was surrounded by a very strange group of people and looked shocked to see is unexpected old friends. He introduced his guest as an astrologist group, and quickly rushed his friends away.

Well Duc de Richleau catches wind of something very sinister going on, and decides to look deeper into this group of astrologers. He discovers that his friend Simon as been involved in a devil worshiping cult. With the help of Rex they kidnapp their friend and attempt to hide him out at Duc’s house, only to learn that the trouble as only begun.

O.K., this movie is an all around great film, Christopher Lee takes on the role of the hero in this one and what I like the most about it is that it isn’t just a monster movie like we are used to from Hammer. The plot is very good, not just some creature tormenting a village, it actually has some depth to it. It’s packed with ton’s of devil worshipers, and satanic symbols and really sets the scene for a very wicked story.

It was very well casted and each actor/acress gave a outstanding performance. The film was kinda slow at points but kept me interested by all the witchcraft and black magic that was going on. I’ve never seen an actual satanic cult but I wouldn’t image that this wasn’t a great adaptation of one, orgy’s in the woods, human sacrifice, secret organizations and evil the devil himself. I think that if your a Hammer Horror fan and have any intrest in the occult, that this your movie.
