Sam Raimi to Direct Horror Again

Well it seems that Evil Dead mastermind whom more recently has become known as the director of the Spiderman films has decided to return to the genre that he got his start. While his production company Ghost House pictures has put out quite a few films of the genre, most of which are pure crap Raimi himself has been out of the genre for sometime. He will make his return to horror by directing “Drag Me to Hell” a film the he co-wrote with his brother Ivan.

As cool as this news could potentially be there are a few things that have me worried:

1.) This film was actually written right after Army of Darkness and has mostly sat on a shelf. Though I might be jumping the gun here, it would be my guess that this film has experienced it’s fair share of re-writes which usually isn’t a good thing.

2.) It’s a supernatural film, and it’s by Ghost House. Ghost House seems to have made a living out of making below average films with supernatural themes.

3.) Lastly Raimi is going to be avoiding excessive violence and blood. Now I’m not the type of person to say that horror needs blood and violence but it never hurts. I think the thing that gets me about this though is that I get the feeling that this means the film will be PG-13.

Only time will tell I guess, but I get the feeling that we aren’t in store for a classic.
