The Eastbound and Down DVD Set
This is not really a review per se, however if I were to give the "set" a score, it would be as follows:
Content: 4.5/5 Beers - If there is any justice at all, Danny McBride will forever be remembered fondly as Kenny Fuckin' Powers by a large and devoted fanbase. There are only 6 episodes, but aside from a few slow spots it's pure raunch at it's best. Scene stealing cameos by Will Ferrell and Craig Robinson and a great deal of hilarious outtakes and deleted scenes make the whole thing that much better.
The actual set itself: 1/5 Beers - No blu-ray release? Come on HBO, you should be ashamed. Also, the packaging is just plain terrible. The flimsy cardboard slip cover is a bit smaller than the awkward, cheaply made plastic case, and the cover artwork is just plain awful. I am well aware of how geeky it is to harp on the packaging details, but as a collector if it weren't for the content, this wouldn't go anywhere near my collection.
So I guess this was a review. If you haven't seen the show and you have any type of appreciation for low brow humor whatsoever, then you will not be disappointed. Spread the word. It would be a shame if this went the way of Lucky Louie.
